Bus timetable back to Funchal from Ribeiro Frio

Levada do Furado (Ribeiro Frio-Portela)

Note: A section of this levada is currently temporarily closed. The detour begins at kilometer marker PK7+200 (calculated from the starting point in Ribeiro Frio) and leads along a hiking trail to Pico do Suna, then continues on a forest path until it meets with the Levada Lamaceiros. From there, the route follows the original path to Portela.

The detour is approximately 2.2 kilometers long (about 1.1 kilometers longer than the original route).

Please note that the alternative route is slightly more challenging than the original due to the incline. It involves an ascent of about 1,000 meters to Pico do Suna and a descent of about 1,200 meters to reach the Levada do Furado.

In total, expect an additional hour to complete the hike.
